Community Outreach
The Community Outreach Initiative strengthens access to signed language by offering inclusive family and community events, ASL classes for families, and financial support for Deaf mentorship services. By removing financial barriers, the initiative ensures families can build ongoing relationships with Deaf adults who provide authentic language modeling, cultural insight, and individualized support.
Funds for this initiative may be used to pay for:
ASL classes for families, including instructor fees and instructional materials
Inclusive family and community language events (e.g., space rental, materials, facilitation)
Fees for Deaf mentors providing one-on-one or small-group mentorship to families
Ongoing Deaf mentor support, including home visits, virtual mentoring, or community-based sessions
Accessibility-related costs that ensure families can fully participate in outreach programming
